The Barn, Need I Say More

There's something about the smell of Fall air that makes me yearn for The Barn. I love the chicken noodle and broccoli soup and the blueberry bread with honey butter! Plus The Barn boasts the best corn mazes I have ever attempted. Each year they seem harder and harder. Jessica and Josiah tagged along with us on this occasion.

Nothing like trying to find your way out of an enormous corn field in the pitch black with swollen hands and ankles from pregnancy. This was in late October so I was 36 weeks along.

How adorable...both of them!

After the big corn maze Josiah tried his hand at the mini-maze!

It's the great pumpkin, Charlie Hughes

Who didn't know that Charlie would get lost in the mini-maze? No one because we saw how he tried to lead us in the large one...in a great big circle over and over and over.

It took us so long to finish the large corn maze that the hayrides were closed. However, the tractor driver made Charlie a deal. If Charlie helped him dump the trash he would give us a ride, and at no charge. So we signed him up!

This was by far the funnest hayride I have ever been on. He started out by doing donuts with the tractor and the trailer we were riding in. He was going up and over and around a huge dirt mound over and over. Then he went through a lane in the field that had tons of trees. He kept weaving back and forth through the trees. We were cruising...this was no ordinary hayride. In fact, this guy might have been a little tipsy. That wasn't all either. Then he took us around the huge lake, right on the stinkin edge of the huge lake. If we leaned a little more to one side I think we would have tipped in the pitch black lake. I don't even know how he saw to drive. We must have been on the hayride for close to 45 minutes. It was a blast!

I'm so jealous! I miss the barn, too.

Josiah is straight up handsome in those pics.
